Victoria Square will be the beating heart of the City Centre Festival Sites, where you can watch the sporting action, join in with Sunrise Stretch Sessions, or bring the family in for a dance off with Perry. The stage in Victoria Square will be alive with the sounds of Birmingham so you can drop in to listen to artists and performers, whilst enjoying food and drink provided by Colmore BID cafes, bars and restaurants.
Working with Birmingham’s independent music organisations and programmers, we will showcase over 150 of the region’s best musicians, giving us more than 60 hours of local live music here during the Games. See our day-by-day listings below for a full breakdown!
Access Information
BSL interpretation will be present whenever our hosts are present and sign as much of the music performances as possible.
Audio description will be available daily, for Sunrise Stretch, Perry’s Playtime Disco - a great opportunity for all of the family to benefit from this fun - and the lunchtime music slot 12pm-2pm. Our audio describer is a trained dance practitioner and looks forward to welcoming you to Victoria Square. Collect your headset from the Festival Information point. Please note on 5 August Audio Description will end after Perry’s Disco so that we can get down to the family rave at Smithfield. Hope you can join us!
The nearest Changing Places toilets are at New Street Station, in the Bullring, and in the Library of Birmingham. More information and directions are available here: changingplaces.uktoiletmap.org
Baby changing facilities are available at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, New Street Station, and Bullring & Grand Central, as well as several cafes and restaurants close to Victoria Square.
Victoria Square is a central civic space and walking route, and as a result will likely be quite busy over the Festival Sites period. We envisage evenings and weekends to be especially busy, with slightly quieter afternoons, but as events are free-to-access we cannot provide exact information about audience numbers. Our programme also involves amplified sound (music and speech).
