With fewer than 100 days to go until the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, preparations are gathering pace at all Games venues across the region.
Residents near Alexander Stadium, and those who use Parry Park on a regular basis, will notice that installation of the perimeter security fence – which encircles the entirety of the Stadium site including areas which will be used for temporary structures – will start on Wednesday 27 April.
The fence will then remain in place until after the conclusion of the Games in August.
A number of footpaths in the vicinity will be affected by the fence, with some routes being closed until the fence is removed. However, the canal towpath and the footpath between Rowdale Road and Perry Park Crescent will remain open for the duration of the Games.
Public access to Perry Park will remain open in the park’s eastern section, which can be accessed via the canal towpath or the footpath beginning on the corner of Aldridge Road and Church Road.
