South Staffordshire

On Thursday 4 August the Time Trial will be racing through the Black Country, leaving West Park in Wolverhampton before heading through the city, into parts of Dudley and South Staffordshire, before returning back to the finish line back in West Park.

To protect you, keep you moving and ensure a smooth operation, in the run up to and during the Games there will be changes to the way you travel and park around the route and some transport hubs.

Road Closures

Roads will be closed inside and around the course to ensure the safety of spectators, athletes and residents, and to facilitate the smooth running of the event.

The majority of these closures will be in place from 5AM to 6PM on the day of the race, but there are some exceptions, particularly around West Park where the start/finish line is. For more detail and to find out whether your road will be closed, please see the “Affected Roads” section below.

There are also some roads with changed traffic conditions in place at the same times. Please check the “Affected Roads” section below.

Please note: Parking will be restricted along the entire course from 6PM on Wednesday 3 August until 6PM on Thursday 4 August. During this time, it will not be possible for you to park your vehicle on these roads.

Any vehicles parked on the course will be towed to ensure the safety of athletes, officials and the public. Cars parked on the course will receive a flyer to help ensure information about parking restrictions and towing is known before the event takes place.

If you live along the course or your residence is inside the course footprint, it is strongly recommended that you look at the road closure information and park on streets where access will be maintained the night before competition.

Vehicle Crossing Points

A number of crossing points will be available around the course, that will enable you to enter/leave the area within the course. The majority of these will be in operation between 5AM and 9.15AM, and 3.30PM and 6PM on the day of the race, with some exceptions.

For details of the locations of these, and times of operation, please see the “Affected Roads” section below.

Queries About Carers and Other Essential Visitors

We are working closely with care providers and individuals to ensure care visits are co-ordinated with the road closures in mind.

More information can be found in the relevant sections below, but if you have any queries or concerns about individual needs please head to our Help Centre and use the chat function by clicking on the “Help” button, which can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.

Travel Advice

To keep you moving throughout the Games, check which areas, roads and rail routes will be busiest with our Travel Advice page.

Public Transport: There will be some changes to timetables and routes so check before you travel and follow @TransportforWM for live updates. Due to planned rail industrial action, the road network will be busier than normal and the bus network will be extremely busy with demand from spectators, especially over the weekend on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July.
