Nancy Abouke is an 18-year-old weightlifter from Nauru. Despite being the smallest country in the Commonwealth, Nauru is mighty! Their national sport is weightlifting and every athlete who has competed Nauru at a Commonwealth Games has been a weightlifter, with the exception of two runners.
At a young age, Nancy’s dad introduced her to weightlifting, which ignited her passion for the sport.
Nancy was one of two Nauruan athletes to compete in Tokyo 2020, which marked her Olympic debut. She returned from the competition ranking at 10th in the world, in the 76kg event!
Prior to the Olympics, Nancy has competed in a variety of other competitions such as 2019 Oceania Youth Championships and the Commonwealth Youth, Junior, and Senior Championships. At the young age of 15, she represented Nauru at the Pacific Games and the Junior World Championships.
