eSwatini welcomed the Queen's Baton Relay on 17 December. The timing of the route was significantly special as the Baton was there during Incwala festivities, which celebrate the start of the harvest season.
During the Baton's visit, it toured Mbabane, the executive capital of the country, and the Bulembu village. The Baton also went to the OlympAfrica centre where sport activities were held for everyone to get involved.
During the Relay Batonbearers took on the journey in different ways - they walked, ran, biked and even unicycled around the route. Despite rainy weather, local people donned their ponchos to come outside to celebrate the Queen's Baton Relay, not wanting to miss any of the festivities.
Thabiso Dlamini, a Swazi boxer who competed in Tokyo 2020, took on the Baton and represented his country as a Batonbearer. Dlamini made his Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2014 and was the only Swazi boxer to compete. He also went on to compete at the Gold Coast in 2018.
