6.36PM, Relay: Gunwharf Quays to Naval Yard
The Queen’s Baton Relay visits Portsmouth, beginning on Gunwharf Road and traveling along Main Road, before reaching The Yard. From The Yard, The Baton will continue along Main Road and head to College Road before reaching the Naval Base where the Baton takes a photo break.
6.57PM, Old Commercial Road to Portsmouth Guildhall
The Baton begins again on Old Commercial Road, travelling down All Saints Road, Wingfield Street, Church Street, Lower Wingfield Street and then onto Commercial Road. The Baton will travel through the pedestrian tunnel before turning onto Cornmill Street and then back onto Commercial Road. From Commercial Road the Baton will travel down Edinburgh Road, Bishop Crispian Way and then onto Guildhall Walk.
From 5.30PM, Community Celebration: HMNB Portsmouth
See the Baton between 7.25PM and 7.40PM.
After being Relayed through Portsmouth city centre, the Baton will visit a community sport celebration on Southsea Common. The celebration of grassroots sports and community fitness will display everything the city has to offer from athletics to Zumba.
Attendees will have the chance to try new activities at the different sports club’s stands as well as seeing what the city’s sport and leisure centres have to offer, with a range of taster activities including free fitness classes for people to try.
