From 4PM, Community Festival: Walsall Arboretum
The Baton will arrive at Walsall Arboretum at 6.45PM when there will be a celebration until 7.15PM.
From 4PM on 23 July, a free Community Festival is being held in Walsall Arboretum. Community and sports clubs will be providing 'come and try it' activities and Commonwealth themed entertainment provided by music and dance groups. Many Commonwealth Games sports will be on offer including gymnastics, athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, hockey and cycling. There will also be football, running clubs, Aikido, table tennis, tai chi, nordic walking, bowls and canoeing on the lake. Leisure Services will be bringing along gym equipment and providing live classes for people to take part in.
The highlight of the festival will be the arrival of the Birmingham 2022 Queen's Baton Relay, which will be relayed throughout the Arboretum by 12 Batonbearers. The route will begin at 6.17pm at the Grange car park off Broadway North, passing the trim trail and play area, before entering the historic Victoria core of the park. From here it will pass around the lake, in front of the bandstand and clock tower, finishing on centre green by the visitor centre at 6.44pm. Celebrations will continue into the evening on centre green with food, drink and entertainment on a big screen.
