What is the Sport Relief All Star Games: Birmingham 2022?
Sport Relief, Birmingham 2022 and the BBC are coming together to bring you a one off, All-Star version of the Commonwealth Games. Two teams from the worlds of sport and entertainment will go head-to-head, as they take on five Birmingham 2022 sports, competing in front of live crowds at the actual venues during the Games.
Only one team will emerge victorious and be crowned Sport Relief All Star Games: Birmingham 2022 Champions.
What stars will feature in the teams?
The two teams from the worlds of sport and entertainment will be led by Team Captains, five-time Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds OBE and double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes.
Further celebrity competitors and sporting legends taking part will be announced in due course.
What are the five sports?
The two teams will be taking on Cycling – Track, Athletics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Basketball 3x3 and Table Tennis.
When and where will all of this take place?
The two teams will compete in front of live crowds at the actual venues during the Games. Below are dates and times for each sport;
- Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 on Monday 1 August at Smithfield – the All Stars action will take place before the 3PM session begins
- Cycling – Track and Para Track on Monday 1 August at Lee Valley Velopark – the All Stars action will take place after 2PM session finishes
- Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis on Tuesday 2 August at The NEC – the All Stars action will take place after the 11AM sessions finishes
- Athletics and Para Athletics on Thursday 4 August at Alexander Stadium – the All Stars action will take place after the 10AM sessions finishes
- Gymnastics – Rhythmic on Friday 5 August at Arena Birmingham - the All Stars action will take place after the 1PM session finishes
How can I watch this action in the venues?
Only ticket holders to each of these five different sport sessions will be able to watch these two teams from the worlds of sport and entertainment compete.

No, this event will be included within your Games ticket at no additional cost.
I already have a ticket for one of these sport sessions, what do I need to do?
The Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 session on Monday 1 August starting at 15:00 is the only event where the All Stars action will take place before the ticketed event – so all you need to do is get to Smithfield a bit earlier on the day. Smithfield will open from 13:00 on this date with the All Stars action kicking off at 13:40.
For the other four ticketed events, the All Stars action will take place shortly after your session finishes – so all you need to do is stay in your seat to enjoy the action.
How long will the Sport Relief All Star Games: Birmingham 2022 action last?
All of the All Star action is expected to last for 30-60 minutes. We therefore encourage ticket holders attending these specific sessions to plan their journeys accordingly to ensure they don’t miss out on this extended action.
Can I watch this on TV?
Yes, all of the sporting action will be captured for a special 1-hour programme to be broadcast just before the Birmingham 2022 Closing Ceremony on 8 August on BBC One and on iPlayer.

Sport Relief is teaming up with United by 2022 and the Commonwealth Sport Foundation this summer as the Birmingham 2022 Official Charity Partners, to raise money to take on important issues, including tackling inequality, improving mental health and helping young people to survive and thrive.
