Wrestling is a martial art and combat sport that involves grappling with an opponent to obtain a position of advantage through different throws or techniques. The different grappling-type techniques include clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins, and other grappling holds.

Freestyle Wrestling requires competitors to compete across a range of different weight categories. Powerful athletes go toe-to-toe on the mats in an attempt to dominate the opposition.

The ultimate goal is to throw and pin the opponent to the mat, which results in an immediate win. This style of wrestling allows the use of the wrestler's or the opponent's legs in offense and defense.
