United by Birmingham 2022

The United by Birmingham 2022 programme recognises non-commercial, distinct and exceptional projects, events or initiatives that are genuinely aligned with the Games mission.

Applications from Government Departments, Agencies or Statutory Bodies including the Armed Forces and Emergency Services will be considered.

Applications from Local Councils, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP’s), Sports Governing Bodies, Not-for-profit / Non-commercial Organisations (including registered Charities, Social Enterprises and Community Interest Companies) will be considered.

Applications from Community Clubs and Associations will be considered.

Award Schemes will be considered if they are both innovative and participatory.

The United programme will not recognise Individuals, Commercial Companies / Organisations / Businesses, Departments within Businesses, Charitable Arms / Foundations of Commercial Organisations or Fund-raising projects.

There will be an official Learning and Schools Programme for the Games launched in due course, so we encourage Schools and Colleges to engage with this programme specifically.

Bursary and Grant Schemes are not generally eligible for the United programme. However, they may be considered if they are delivered in partnership with the Games and the activities that recipients of the bursary may be eligible.

Competitions and Leagues will not be considered for the United programme unless they are unique, distinct, exceptional and genuinely united with the Games mission.

Organisations can utilise the United programme name and logo in their communications regarding the licenced project. Use of the logo must conform to the brand guidelines and licence provided when the project is approved.

Successful project applications will be promoted on the Birmingham 2022 website.

Organisations will be permitted to submit information about their projects to be shared on the United by Birmingham 2022 Facebook page.

Projects will receive a digital Welcome Pack containing United by Birmingham 2022 newsletter, poster, bunting and sticker templates.

From time to time, details about some projects will be shared in the media to raise awareness of the United programme and projects.

You should submit a project to the United by Birmingham 2022 programme through the online form. This is the most efficient and quickest way to submit your application.

If you are unable to complete the online form please contact us via email  (UnitedBy@Birmingham2022.com) to discuss your application or request a manual version of the form.

It will take between 30 and 45 minutes for you to complete your application to the United programme. Once you start filling in the form, you will need to see it through to completion so make sure you have time to finalise your application. You will also need to submit a relevant photo that represents your project or organisation as part of your submission.

We aim to respond to projects within 6 weeks of receiving complete applications. If your project is unsuccessful, we will provide feedback which you can use to update your application and then resubmit.

Email UnitedBy@Birmingham2022.com with any changes to an existing project. If you need to submit a new project, please submit a new application.

No. Once your project has come to an end, you cannot continue using the programme logo. You are however welcome to submit a new project to the United by Birmingham 2022 programme.

We ask for successful applicants to use the logo supplied with the Welcome Pack. Don’t use the logo from other sources, including copy and paste from this site. No other organisations beyond those who have secured a licence are permitted to use the logo.

There is a United by Birmingham 2022 Facebook page. This will be used to showcase a variety of projects and initiatives endorsed by the United by Birmingham 2022 programme.

No. There are key partners and sponsors of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, so we need to protect the brand and be clear around who is associated with the Games.

You can refer to your organisation’s project as being ‘endorsed by United by Birmingham 2022’.

Don’t refer to your organisation or project as a Partner, Sponsor, Provider, Supplier, Venue, Event or Festival of the Games, Commonwealth Games, Birmingham 2022 or England Commonwealth Games Team.

Yes. You can promote your event by producing materials such as banners, brochures, signage and leaflets. You can also produce online content and newsletters. All of this activity must conform to the guidance and restrictions set out in the guidelines.

If you wish to use paid media (including paid social media) or public relations (PR) to boost the reach of your project, please get in touch via email at UnitedBy@Birmingham2022.com with information around the activity. Please do not proceed with this activity until it has been approved by United by Birmingham 2022 programme.

No. Schools, School Sport partnerships and Colleges are encouraged to use the Schools Programme as the official affiliation to the Games. However, if a school or college is in collaboration with a wider group where there is a lead organisation, then the school will be considered part of that group.

We want the United by Birmingham 2022 community programme to showcase the best of all the communities across the UK. We will review images and videos that we’re tagged in on social and will share the best content across our social channels. As a result, please sure that the people you feature on social media have consented to being recorded and / or having their photograph taken.

If your project has been approved, you will be able to use the United by Birmingham 2022 logo as long as you conform to the guidance and restrictions set out in the guidelines.

All approvals are final, so decisions can’t be appealed. You can however use feedback to update your application and resubmit an idea for approval.

We anticipate the programme will close to new applications at the end of 2021.

We want the United by Birmingham 2022 programme to bring together as many people as possible across the UK, so there is no limit to the number of projects that you can run. We are however looking to award truly exceptional projects so please only submit your best projects for consideration.

We will however revoke access should anyone be abusing the brand for commercial benefit.

The United by Birmingham 2022 community programme welcomes applications from relevant projects from across the UK (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales).

We are unable to award any applications from organisations that are outside of the UK. Projects can however have an international reach or impact.

No. United by Birmingham 2022 will not be awarding any funding to any projects that apply to the community programme. Successful projects should look to use other funding sources to support the coordination and running of the project.

The United by Birmingham 2022 programme will come to a close on 7^th August 2022. From that point, we ask all projects, events and initiatives to stop using the community programme, including the use of the name, logo and any items supplied in the Welcome Pack.
