John Crabtree OBE is Chair of Birmingham 2022 Organising Committe Board and Chair of the establishment Trustee Board of United By 2022. He is passionate about the West Midlands and its prosperity and has supported the region tirelessly over many years in many different capacities, culminating in his appointment on 3 January 2017 by Her Majesty The Queen to be her representative and became Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands. He had previously been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2005.

John has many community and charitable interests and was previously Chairman of the national charity for deafblind people, Sense, and of Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust.
